Background

In 1986 I attended the Cleveland Institute of Art to study more about my craft and add to it validity by obtaining my bachelors degree. I signed up for the Institutes extensive five year art program which consisted of 3 years of foundation courses: traditional oil painting, water colors, figure and still life drawing and a wealth of art history and art literature classes. The last two years were spent pursuing my major course of study illustration, with a minor in drawing to solidify the illustration. I also took a number graphic design courses because I knew that I would definitely need the knowledge out in the field.

In 1991 I presented my final thesis, but did not have enough credits to obtain my diploma or walk with my other classmates and colleagues. After working in the commercial art field as a graphic designer, production artist, web designer and illustrator as both an employed and freelance artist for a stretch of about nine years, it was finally time to go back to college, complete my credits and bring my diploma that I worked so hard for home.

In 2005 I started taking night courses at the College of San Mateo here in California and completed my college credit obligations in 2006, where I obtained my Bachelors Degree and will finally bring my diploma home where it needs to be.

 Work Ethic

I keep a simple work ethic that I have lived by at each and every job and through all the assignments that I have ever worked on, that work ethic being “Give every job, no matter how large or small 110 percent of my creative effort and attention, no if ands or buts”.

 Artistic Style

I like for my work to be clean and uncluttered by unnecessary imagery, textures, color or text. Whether it be design, illustration or web design, it should be easy for the audience to read and navigate through and pleasing enough visually to hold there attention or catch their eye from across the room. Unless the intent for a proposed design is to represent confusion, clutter, dismay or create visual mayhem, I try to stay away from it opting for a design that brings the information that I need to get across to my intended audience to the front and they don’t have to do a lot of visual and mental work to find it.
